Valedictorian Speech Moment:
"There is no way of knowing who we will be or where we will go. We can tell ourselves to believe that we are prepared, but we truly have no idea the obstacles that are headed our way. Often, I find myself seeking answers to the future. I attempt to calm my anxieties by gathering knowledge that will make my mind rest, or by relying on events and ideals that have enhanced my person and character thus far. Even so, there is no way to skip forward and preview the next chapter of our lives, but that is the beauty of new beginnings.
Leaving behind the desire to be comforted by the future, we will be open to the vast resources that the world has to offer to us. We may fail in new ventures, or they may lead us to things we would have never believed were possible.
While that leaves potential for our futures, we can still be anxious about the next steps we are to take. Yet, maybe being comfortable with the consistent nature of life that is in fact ever-changing, gives us a reliable fact to rest on throughout our futures.
Graduation is a reminder that we are ending a part of our high school story, but are simultaneously beginning the bigger story that is the rest of our lives. Our lives are a continuous reminder that our actions, accomplishments, and feelings are always 'to be continued.'" - Kennah Burdette
